Frequently asked questions
How is age in years, months and days calculated?
The calculator subtracts your birth date from the target date, borrowing days from the previous month and months from the previous year when needed — the same way you would work it out on a calendar — so leap years and different month lengths are handled correctly.
Is my date of birth uploaded or stored?
No. This calculator runs entirely in your browser — your inputs are never uploaded, logged or stored. Your dates stay on your device.
Can I calculate age at a past or future date?
Yes. Change the “Age at date” field to any date after your birth date — for example, to check your age on a wedding date, a school cut-off date, or a future birthday.
How does the next birthday countdown work?
The tool finds the next occurrence of your birth month and day on or after the target date, then shows that date, its weekday, and how many days remain. If today is your birthday, it shows 0 days remaining.
What happens with a 29 February birthday?
In non-leap years, a 29 February birthday is treated as falling on 1 March for the next-birthday calculation, which is the common convention. The years/months/days age still uses exact calendar borrowing.
