How to use the Crop Image tool
- Drop an image onto the box above, or click to browse for one.
- Drag the crop box to move it, or drag a corner handle to resize it. Pick an aspect preset to lock the shape.
- Fine-tune with the X, Y, width and height fields — all values are in the original image's pixels and stay in sync with the box.
- Choose PNG, JPEG or WebP and download. The crop is cut from the full-resolution original, not the preview.
Frequently asked questions
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. The image is loaded and cropped on a canvas in your browser. Your file never leaves your device.
Will cropping reduce the quality of my image?
No. The download is drawn from the original image at its natural resolution using the exact pixel coordinates shown, so the cropped area keeps its original quality. JPEG and WebP exports use high-quality encoding.
What do the X and Y values mean?
X and Y are the position of the crop box's top-left corner, measured in pixels from the top-left corner of the original image. Width and height are the size of the cropped area in pixels.
What happens to transparency when I export as JPEG?
JPEG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white before export. Choose PNG or WebP if you need to keep transparency.
How do the aspect presets work?
A preset locks the crop box to that width-to-height ratio. Changing a preset adjusts the box around its current centre, and resizing by a corner keeps the ratio until you switch back to Free.
