Frequently asked questions
How is the tip calculated?
The tip is the bill amount multiplied by the tip percentage divided by 100. For example, a 15% tip on a bill of 100 is 100 × 15 ÷ 100 = 15, giving a total of 115.
How does splitting work?
The total (bill plus tip) is divided equally by the number of people for the “Each pays” figure, and the tip alone is divided the same way for “Tip per person”. Amounts are rounded to two decimal places, so small rounding differences of a cent can occur when splitting.
What tip percentage should I choose?
Customs vary widely by country and setting, and this tool does not prescribe one — the presets simply cover common choices from 0% to 25%. Pick what fits your situation, or type any custom percentage.
What happens if I type a custom tip?
Typing in the Custom tip % field deselects the preset buttons and uses your value instead. Clear the custom field and tap a preset to go back to a preset percentage.
Is my bill amount uploaded anywhere?
