Frequently asked questions

Is this unit converter accurate?

Yes. Linear conversions use standard international conversion factors (for example, 1 inch = 0.0254 metres exactly), and temperature uses the standard Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin formulas. Results are rounded sensibly to avoid floating-point noise.

Are my inputs uploaded or stored anywhere?

No. This converter runs entirely in your browser — your inputs are never uploaded, logged or stored. Everything is calculated locally on your device with JavaScript.

What is the difference between Kibibyte and Kilobyte?

A Kilobyte (KB) is 1,000 bytes using the decimal system, while a Kibibyte (KiB) is 1,024 bytes using the binary system. This converter includes both so you can convert storage sizes either way.

How is temperature converted differently?

Temperature scales do not share a common zero point, so they cannot use a simple multiplier. This tool converts via Celsius: Fahrenheit to Celsius is (°F − 32) × 5/9, Celsius to Fahrenheit is °C × 9/5 + 32, and Kelvin is Celsius + 273.15.

Can I convert very large or very small values?

Yes. You can enter any number, including decimals and negative values where they make sense (such as temperatures below zero). Results are shown with up to 6 decimal places, with trailing zeros trimmed.
