Is my text uploaded?
No. This word counter runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your text is never sent to a server, stored, or shared — it stays on your device.
How is reading time calculated?
Reading time is estimated at 200 words per minute, which is an average adult reading speed. Speaking time uses 130 words per minute, a typical pace for presentations and narration.
How are sentences and paragraphs counted?
Sentences are counted by splitting on full stops, exclamation marks and question marks. Paragraphs are counted by splitting on blank lines, so two line breaks start a new paragraph.
Does the character count include spaces?
Both counts are shown. “Characters” includes every character including spaces, while “Characters (no spaces)” removes all whitespace so you can meet strict limits.
